What type of Android issue is this?

What steps would let us observe this issue?

1. Using YouTube music I played a track to listen to
2. I tried to turn up the volume on my phone but the volume didn't change from low to high
3. I adjusted the volume using the onboard controls for my ear buds and was able to get the volume turned up
4. Again when I tried to turn the volume down on my phone it stayed the same
5. I can only adjust the volume using the volume controls on my ear buds. The only thing my phone will do is mute the volume but not affect the loudness of it it's either all there at the same volume or not at all

What did you expect to happen?
Fory phone volume controls to be in sync with my earbuds and not for a disconnect to be apparent.

What actually happened?
My phone doesn't control the volume it's as if the volume is only dictated by my earbuds when I turn them up

What was the effect of this issue on your device usage, such as lost time or work?
Moderate

Additional comments
When I control the volume on my ear buds it's doesn't register on my phone as the volume from a Bluetooth device being adjust for media playback. It used to be linked now it seems to not be in connection with each other at all. Volume is independent of my phone and is only controlled by my ear buds. I'm using the Nothing ear-a model Bluetooth ear buds and I've had them for about 2 months
