Dear Google Team! Ability to set CORRECT ANSWER programmatically (i.e. not manually) in the textItem is absolutely essential! Also, I am advocating for allowing programmatic assignment of the Correct and Incorrect feedback, using Google Script. Implementation of these functions would be very useful and, I am sure, would be appreciated by many users. Thank you! Prof P.M.Trivailo

Hi! The ability to set the correct answer on a text item would also be hugely beneficial to me! Cheers, Ole Lynge Sørensen

+1 It should definitely be included as a feature! Setting correct answers manually is not suitable. Please add this as soon as possible! Thank you as always for listening to us <3

It is so boring fill that field manually...especially when you use a DB to collect questions and answers to create a dynamic quiz.

This is even more important now that many teachers, as it is my case, have to create Google Forms for our students. The ability to create this programmatically is very important. In addition, the impossibility to set the right answer/s makes the validation option less useful.
I have little to no expectations that they would add this soon. It is clearly not important for Google. There another important feature (include images programmatically in multiple choice and check box answers) that has been waiting for four years so far and yet not even a comment here.
Do not hold your breath.

How can this not exist??
After spending hours and hours of learning about Google Apps Script for Google Forms I hit a wall here, which made me abandon my whole project.

I teach - this would be incredibly useful. We also need to set ALL the settings for forms from the script. It would be nice to give a name to the sheet that holds responses - perhaps the name of the form not just Form Response and a sequential number. Going in to the form, setting the settings and renaming the response sheet takes time and time is in very short supply.
so...@gmail.com <so...@gmail.com> #33
Definitely need this function, it will save a lot of time.
bf...@gmail.com <bf...@gmail.com> #34
Will add functionality and save time. A must have. Shane there isn't a dedicated service where developers get ideas from people who actually work in education. The current system seems incredibly distant and cold.

I would like the existence of a method such as "SetAnswerKey(string)" or "SetAnswerKey(correctNumber, Tolerance)" where it is possible to allow a margin within which all responses are accepted as correct, as Moodle does so well! It would be great!!! Thank you in advance.

Giving the ability to create questions, multiple choice answers, feedback for answers, but not being able to set the correct answer itself seems bonkers. As many have said, it's only this step that is holding people back from doing truly useful stuff.

I generate facts quizzes for my sixth grade students. There are 90 questions on each level of quiz. I currently am generating 15 levels. I cannot do this manually. If the function exists in the GUI, shouldn't it be a simple switch to expose that function to the API? I'm crying.

I have also encountered this issue. My use case is simple enough that I can use the text validation feature instead to not allow users to submit the form if they do not enter the correct response, but it would be great if a similar feature could be built in for setting correct answers as well.
ja...@gmail.com <ja...@gmail.com> #53
+1 As a teacher I wanna said that this could be very useful in this kind of year. Teacher may spent less time on click and type the answer through it, saving time from this machine-like work means better quiz might have in the same time.

I thought I was living in the 21st century. On this issue, almost 3-year-old, nothing has seemed to be done. I'm running out of patience. Why should I keep paying over $100 a month for G-Suite, G-Workspace, whatever you may call it?
mm...@forrestcountyahs.com <mm...@forrestcountyahs.com> #56
This is a needed feature. As classes are being taught mainly through Google Classroom currently, we need Google's quiz making functionality to keep up with the needs of teachers.
et...@gmail.com <et...@gmail.com> #57
I want this feature too. Google is not paying enough attention to this feature, but integrating the synergy between Google Forms and Spreadsheets will make teachers' job much easier.
sa...@gmail.com <sa...@gmail.com> #58
Being able to set correct answer for text fields programmatically is utterly essential. When you have a quiz with a hundred small questions, setting the correct answer for each manually is soul eating. I can't believe this doesn't exist yet.

You can do this with the new Forms API that Google released
earlier this year.
https://developers.google.com/forms/api/reference/rest/v1/forms#QuestionItem
You can't set Correct and Incorrect feedback for these questions but you
can create corect answers and set general feedback. - You can't set all
other answers to incorrect

The "new Forms API" referred in comment #63 seem neat.
However, as a teacher I feel I do not have the time to learn something completely new to me at this moment and it is unclear how I would use these API with data from google sheet.
I definitely think solving this Issue tracked here is ideal. This issue is stopping me from progressing in my work.
This ticket has been opened in 2018, 5 years ago. I am sure people would use the new functionality.

I can't speak for Google but I imagine that they would say that they have solved this problem by releasing the Forms API.
If you are stuck with it you might find my add ons useful. They are Form Maker - for sheets and Form&Quz Maker for docs.
They both allow you to set correct answers for short text questions.

Description
--- Requesting Google Apps Script functionality be added for Forms Quiz "short answer" questions.
What is the purpose of this new feature?
--- In addition to the multiple choice, checkbox and dropdown questions that have been supported since April 2017, I'm requesting Google Apps Script Form Quiz functionality be expanded to include "short answer" questions. Specifically, I would like the ability to use Google Apps Script to set one or more "correct answer" and select the "Mark all other answers incorrect" checkbox for a Quiz TextItem in Forms (see attached image for reference).
What existing Apps Script services would this affect?
--- FormApp Class TextItem (
What existing data does this use?
--- Reference the attached image
Thanks for continuing to make Google Apps Script functionality better!
