User reported receiving a `virtual tables may not be altered (code 1 SQLITE_ERROR)` error when a new column is added to an FTS table. They also reported that Room tries to alter the table to add the new column instead of recreating (as should be the process for FTS tables)

I have tried the example project you've provided, it does not reproduce.

Could you please try running with -Pandroid.useDexArchive=false? This disables the new dexing pipeline, and fallbacks to the old one.
