It would help tremendously if you could attach a simple project reproducing the issue.

Hi Emre,
Is this aar for a library that we could have access to to reproduce the issue?

I know we populate resources for layoutlib via the resource repository, but do we actually hook up the asset folders from builder model to layoutlib?

I've created a test project that reproduces this. There's a custom view which reads its label from an asset file. There are two versions - one where the library is in an AAR and one where it is not; only one of them works (alternate dependency in main app to tweak it.)

The problem is that we only look into the IdeaSourceProviders so we do not really get the exploded AAR assets. I guess we just replicate use the same logic as for the resources.
