This is indeed an important feature! It is a standard operation using rsync, so it would be great if gsutil-rsync could also allow for this. Otherwise gsutil-rsync becomes very confuser for the end user!

Any status on this? I find myself needing this functionality as well.
Description
Adding a flag for rsync to be able to use wildcards will allow this to happen. IMHO it contradicts the use of rsync, as its purpose is to have folders/bucket synchronise.
POSSIBLE WORKAROUND: Use "gsutil -m cp -n *whatever" to copy using a wildcard but skipping existing files.
