I attached a screenshot to this bug report showing the incorrect lint error that Android Studio gives. I also attached the sample project I used to reproduce the issue.
Gradient support in VectorDrawables was backported as of v28 of the support library, so Android Studio should no longer warn developers that these attributes are unsupported on old platforms.
