+1 here too. But the problem is also with disks. We currently use part of hostname in the name. Sometimes a machine has to be renamed and it's not possible.

Hello,
Thanks for reaching out to us!
The Feature Request has been created and the Product Engineering Team is working on this request. At this moment, there is no ETA to this request. Thank you for your trust and continued support to improve Google Cloud Platform products.

we need the feature on priority, else its a manual work to know which service billing increased , etc..

An API to query project costs would be very helpful.
Here are the requirements from my side, so someone can actually get to work on this.
Required parameters
-billingAccount
Optional parameters
-projectId (all projects under the billingAccount if not specified)
-startDate & endDate (defaults to current billing cycle if not given)
Here is a definite implementation guideline
gcloud billing spend list --billingAccount=<yourBillingAccountId> --format=json
[
{
"projectId": "project_abc",
"totalSpend": "1234.00"
},
{
"projectId": "project_xyz",
"totalSpend": "2345.00"
}
]

Another +1. It seems crazy that I can get this for our Azure and AWS resources but can't for GCP

I'm not trying to be rude, but I am genuinely shocked that this API doesn't exist in Google Cloud Platform. How are you supposed to effectively manage your costs if you can't easily query what your current spend is via an API? For a platform as large as GCP, the lack of this capability is not acceptable.
Even smaller cloud platforms like Linode (Akamai), Digital Ocean, and Vultr, have simple, easy to use REST APIs that expose month-to-date billing information.
https://www.vultr.com/api/#tag/billing/operation/pending-charges https://docs.digitalocean.com/reference/api/api-reference/#operation/balance_get https://techdocs.akamai.com/linode-api/reference/get-account
AWS offers this as well, although their API is unreasonably complicated.
Looks like Azure is working on it for certain "types" of subscriptions.
Description
Currently as per the list of available[1 2] 'Cloud billing APIs', we don't have such an API to view usage/total cost of a project.
Customer is interested in such an API that would provide the cost/usage of a project
