The Markdown markup format is very popular these days especially for GitHub documentation etc. AFAIK IDEA supports Markdown but the preview doesn't work in AS.
It would be very helpful if Android Studio supports that plugin properly: https://www.jetbrains.com/help/idea/markdown.html
