Your use case: It is not possible to run puppeteer (headless chromium) in AppEngine because of the missing dependency. Puppeteer throws the following error:

Hello, world! Error: Failed to launch the browser process!
/srv/node_modules/puppeteer/.local-chromium/linux-737027/chrome-linux/chrome: error while loading shared libraries: libgbm.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Hey there, I noticed that Go 1.20 runtime is suffering the same fate here. I'd be happy to submit a patch to remove ffmpeg from the documented system packages if this is not a priority to fix :)

Please resolve this issue. We can not update node version in Google/Firebase cloud function. Because Puppeteer version 3+ which supports node 10+ does not work in Google/Firebase cloud function due to this issue.

We have to update node version as soon as possible since node 8 is not supported and going to be deprecated soon in Google/Firebase cloud function.

There are no updates here but I can confirm that headless chromium (puppeteer ^5.3.0) does indeed work in cloud functions.

I updated puppeteer to the latest version("puppeteer": "^5.4.1" / "@types/puppeteer": "^3.0.4") and confirmed it works in cloud functions. Thank you.
