Problem you have encountered:

Users migrating from App Engine 1st Gen have no alternative for the Google Protocol RPC.

Currently we offer Cloud Endpoints for gRPC as an option for RPC frameworks that works with a serverless backend. However, this only supports Cloud Run.

What you expected to happen:

We would expect an option for App Engine to be available as well.
