I have this problem as well.
I suggest Google open a fullscreen game for extended hours with keep switching between apps and the game and tapping the notifications.
While this bug does not really cause any functional problem, it impacts the user experience (esp the gaming experience) seriously.

This also affects the Pixel 3a. In Chrome Remote Desktop, the menu bar vanishes after a few seconds - and the previous way to access it was to pull down from the top of the screen to access the menu bar in the app. In Android 11 this instead brings down the notification panel, and it's impossible to access the menu bar underneath. If you swipe up the notification panel to hide it, the taskbar sits ON TOP of Chrome Remote Desktop from that point, it won't go back to proper full screen mode until you close the app and re-open it.

Precisely what happened to me, in the end I got sick of having to exit out just to get the keyboard input that I've now switched to AnyDesk and there's no problems with that. There's not really any replacing my games though. It's a shame it's been going on for so long with no input from anyone official just more people with the same ongoing problems.

I'm having this issue it also seems to effect the ability for biometrics to work. So face unlock constantly fails.

Same issue for me on Samsung S20. Only since the update done today. Very frustrating!!!

Same issue with my note 20 ultra 5g.accept that the problem is in your end. Too many complaints and yet you blame the other apps when it's too obvious that it's your problem. Android 11 sucks

Same issue with S10+

Effect me to, live in Sweden, samsung fold 2. On every game. The status bar overlays, annoying as hell.

This has made several of my games nearly unplayable for a long time. The swipe bar at the bottom renders the entire bottom row of fullscreen apps unusable. It even covers the keyboard at times. Is there a fix coming, or should people take the lack of movement on this issue as a reason to move away from pixels?

Как это устранить? Ведь обновление больше не приходит. Как откатиться на 10?

How has this not been fixed yet? It's been months.
It occurs on a fairly regular basis and it seems to be affecting many different Pixel models on full screen apps. I have to avoid pulling down the notification bar in fear of it happening and I'm forced to restart the app. It blocks the top of the screen and whichever side the home buttons are, which is usually vital for most apps menu functions.

Any update? Reported in 2020 and still present in 2023, it seems a bit too much for a bug, affecting especially Google branded devices
