Please if you add it back make it as an option, I don't want viewers to refresh my reports for performance reasons on the backend

I believe that this question is related to ID 62371417. Would not it be better to keep everything in one issue?

Without refresh or auto refresh plugin option for view only users, the basic purpose of displaying real time data dashboard is defeated. To enable refresh providing edit option to our clients is a risk we have to deal in revealing other unnecessary information in Data resources.
da...@gmail.com <da...@gmail.com> #5
I would make an option in the Sharing Advanced Option Popup like
"⎕ Allow Viewers to refresh the data of this report"
Which means the Administrator can decide, if the viewers are allowed to refresh the data.

I agree. This is really important for my clients/merchants who need to see data refreshed after adding it to a Google Spreadsheet. Super keen to see this option!!

+1 for this, much needed. Or even better to implement refreshing intervals so the data would be automatically refreshed.

This is a critical feature or we will be forced to move to another product, such as Tableau, which allows real-time refresh of data.
mo...@gmail.com <mo...@gmail.com> #13
We need this feature like yesterday to continue with the product. Making it optional is fine, so admins can allow end users to refresh or not to refresh. It could be a pallet control or a report option.

Re-enabling Report Refresh for Report Viewers
Bev Lauerman
AGMM Costco Wholesale Corporate office
We have Forms on Fire digital reports in use in all warehouses. We are a Google house so we used the Google Data Studio to create reporting over the data from the forms which are in Google Sheets and Google MySQL. When we started this process the Google Data Studio reports dashboards over the data was real time .
When the end user opened the report it refreshed the "real time data" from our Forms on Fire digital forms. Someone at Google decided to make a change in the program and only allow the owner of the report to refresh the data. Not smart. What is the cost of this thoughtless decision? Every report has to be open on a computer 24/365 and physically refreshed.during the day that is $385 per hour, $800,000 annually
We want to be able to select a checkbox in the setup process which causes the Google Data Studio report to "auto refresh" .otherwise we will move our Forms on Fire data out of Google onto another platform and start using Tableau reporting.instead of Data Studio.

This is a must!
ri...@gmail.com <ri...@gmail.com> #16
this is a must. Using BigQuery and Data studio data is not at all refreshed for users with View mode. This is absolutely mandatory requirement.
Even better provide options to users who can refresh and who can't

+1 lack of this function is the only reason making us stick with Tableau rather than moving to GDS.

+1 I also suggest the following admin settings (the first two with the highest priority):
- real-time refresh*
- intervals to refresh data for flexibility (# of minutes, # of hours, then select start time, then select which days/wks/months)*
- allow all editors to refresh
- allow only certain editors to refresh
I agree this is absolutely needed to make data studio a real competitor in the market. As a xoogler, this is killing valuable productivity time in our startup to refresh dashboards manually daily for our 30 customers - currently at 3 per customer per day and expecting to go to 6 per customer per day shortly. Having this feature would ensure there is trust in our analytics in the eye of the end user and customer. We also plan to use data studio internally for our operations across all teams. We are ready to move from Tableau to Data Studio for everything once this feature is in place.

+1 This is absolutely critical to making useful dashboards where business decisions need to be based on the most up-to-date data. This coupled with the slow loading time of data feeding through from Google Sheets are the only issues I have with what will be an incredibly powerful and useful product. Right now, for me at least, clients can't make the most of their dashboards as data is constantly lagging behind its source.
sa...@visata.app <sa...@visata.app> #20
To the person in comment #19 . We too had a Google Sheet with over 30k rows, which took about 10 seconds to load. We moved that data to Google Cloud SQL (MySQL database) and the load time is less than 1 second. The slowness your are experiencing is likely Google Sheets and not DataStudio.

If a view only user cannot refresh the data then I can not take Data Studio into Live Production in my Company.
I do not want end users changing the Charts that my IT Department creates. End Users do not have the knowledge of the product and the data sources to be effective. I thought what would be the reason for View Only.
Let the experts do the dirty work for the end users and let the end users use the provided information to make business decisions. That being said, End Users must have up to date information to make Business Decisions. Without that then what is the point of all of this? I can understand in certain circumstances you may want to make the data static so an option for that could be helpful as mentioned by someone above but that would be rare.
PLEASE GIVE VIEW ONLY Users the ability to refresh the data. Would also be GREAT for a way to have an option for the data to REFRESH automatically when the page is first loaded if possible.
Even better if there were a way to schedule the refresh of data sources if that will also update all of the reports associated to that datasource.
Thanks

Also, a feature to set automatic refresh of data source in custom specified intervals would be really helpful!

+1 for this feature - this would be extremely helpful.
It's hard to imagine many dashboards which *wouldn't* require data refreshes due to consistent use, so this should surely be a mandatory feature?

This has been a large amount of trouble within my organization when data keeps getting reset to old cached data, even after changing data sources. This could all be fixed if the view-only users could just refresh the database themselves. Or just have auto-refreshing options that work.
Thank you.

Description
It seems that everything is "grouped by" date in the end, instead of year month.
This only seems to affect blended data sources only.
I have found others with a similar issue:
