Problem you have encountered:

• Currently GCF for Python runtime(s) does not have a reliable solution in place to connect to SQLServer databases. The public documentation that provides the sample solution thus does not work as intended. Our team has been made aware of this issue and will be actively working on the fix to this issue.

Connect to SQLServer reliably with pyodbc driver via GCF ( cloud functions )

• NOTE : ( Similar error will occur of the Python38 runtime as well )

• This error takes place because the unixodbc, unixodbc-dev package(s) [1] is not present in the builder image, base runtime image of Python runtime(s).

• This bug will duly be updated to reflect the status of the fix applied to GCF Python runtime.

Workaround information

• Currently, there is no reliable workaround available to get past this issue.
