What you would like to accomplish:

Have the ability to see the Reason for Pod being in Pending state in Cloud Logging. There is already a log containing the Pending status for a Pod but with no corresponding message.

How this might work:

There is already Logging and Monitoring implemented in GKE. The log responsible for reporting the Pending status can be found by following query:

resource.type="k8s_cluster"
resource.labels.cluster_name="CLUSTER-NAME"
protoPayload.response.status.phase="Pending"

If applicable, reasons why alternative solutions are not sufficient:

Running either:

• $ kubectl get events
• $ kubectl describe pod POD_NAME

Are not sufficient as not repeated logs are deleted in 1 hour. Also there is no way to tell the reason if Pod/Deployment was deleted due to various reasons.
