It's better to add an option to hide or show the navigation bar. It is a waste of space and the design of the nav bar is not consistent across all the apps. Some apps have a rectangular cut off at the bottom whereas other apps don't. This is not consistent. Some apps look clean whereas other apps look like shit. This is why it's better to completely eliminate the navigation bar or at least provide an option to.

I would consider adding an option to remove the gesture bar at all. Custom roms have that option and it works perfectly fine.

Give an option to remove it completely? I don't need this to know what I'm doing.

Google used to provide a flexible, user friendly system when compared to Apple, now it seems all you care about is pushing your own design philosophy even of users hate it and want a change.
It's becoming.less and less clear to me why I should choose Google over Apple when your

I want to hide it because:
- I don't need the bar to remind me that I can use gestures
- I want to use 100% of the pixels of the screen, I don't want to waste a few milimiters of screen on something I do not need.
- I want to avoid possible OLED burn-in issues.
- I got used to be able to hide it on OnePlus Android phones, I can't believe that now on a Pixel Pro flagship phone I do not get the option.
Please, please please just give us the option, I want to hide it it serves no purpose at all to me and I know I am not alone in this!

Pixel 4
* What are the steps to reproduce the problem?
Go to Home Screen
User Interface, Display or Rendering Issue
* What was the expected result?
Hiding of gesture bar on Homescreen
* What was the actual result?
Gesture bar stays in Homescreen
Additional Comments:
In android 10, the gesture bar was hidden on the home screen. In android 11 and beta android 12 it is not hidden. I think it's a good idea to remove it from the home screen. It looks nice and also helps avoid unnecessary burn-in on OLED screens.
