As @PrimaryKey users tend to use UUID but they have to build their own type converter for it. It would be nice if Room already had built-in support for UUID.

The typical UUID converter looks like this:

public UUID asUuid(byte[] bytes) {
    ByteBuffer bb = ByteBuffer.wrap(bytes);
    long firstLong = bb.getLong();
    long secondLong = bb.getLong();
    return new UUID(firstLong, secondLong);
}

@TypeConverter
public byte[] asBytes(UUID uuid) {
    ByteBuffer bb = ByteBuffer.wrap(new byte[16]);
    bb.putLong(uuid.getMostSignificantBits());
    bb.putLong(uuid.getLeastSignificantBits());
    return bb.array();
}
