We are lot of Android Auto users that feels that the timing to switch AA to dark mode is often far from ideal, it depends on every car if the sensor is well implemented (like if it's based on headlights on/off or just the light sensor) and also in some countries (like Argentina) if you are on a highway or route the headlights should be on even if it's noon.

That's why I propose to add a new setting to Android Auto, instead of current quick setting of 3 options auto / day / night, it should be 4 and better named e.g. Controlled by car (default) / Sunset-Sunrise / Day / Night.

Sunset-Sunrise is the new option and it will turn dark mode based on timezone at sunrise and day mode between sunset and sunset. This would be ideal users that can't control light sensor and wants to see the map when the sun is up.
