What you would like to accomplish:

App Engine First Generation provided service stubs to enable fast and safe unit testing with their various built-in libraries. Cloud Tasks is the replacement for Task Queues, so it should provide the same functionality.

How this might work:

Similarly to how it does for Task Queues

If applicable, reasons why alternative solutions are not sufficient:

• Not having tests creates too much risk
• Having tests interact with production systems risks interfering with the production application
• Having separate queues per developer and any potentially parallel unit test run is expensive
• Writing our own unit test support is a problem common to all Cloud Task customers
