I too have this issue. This isn't a bug, it's intentional. Google is only letting the tool be used on screens that come straight from them. You're better off (1) supporting right to repair legislature and (2) making this issue more public. Apple had a similar case where when enough people spoke up, they reversed their anti right to repair practices. Maybe tweet @ifixit or something? They're a big name!

if this is a bug with android:
fastboot oem udfps get-cal-url
returns an invalid url on some screens/fingerprint scanners
this is either because its reading the data from the screen wrong (unlikely)
or because the calibration file does not exist on google servers (more likely)

From comments I've read online it seems like some people think the hashes above are related to version of android and some thing they are related to the hardware itself. Could someone from google at least chime in to clarify that? Will upgrading Android potentially help or does something need to be uploaded for this hardware?

It's non genuine screen or incorrect display for the region of your device.
Do you have some evidence for that? The repair shop insisted the part was genuine (they said there is no non-genuine pixel 6 screens available)... And this is the only comment where I've read mention of the region of the device (my device was brought direct from Google in the UK if that makes any difference).
The comment doesn't seem consistent with the 404
s (unless the filename is some sort of hash derived from phone region and hardware id) either...

From
on 04/09/2022: The result from issue 218761008 fastboot oem udfps get-cal-url
is tied to the display. I got a replacement display, installed that into my pixel 6 and installed the fingerprint sensor from my old display in the new display. I noticed that the fingerprint sensor wasn't working and when trying to calibrate it, got the same error as everybody else here ("Couldn't find unique software for this device"). I then installed my damaged display again and ran the tool again and then I could download the.signed.cal
file using the above command. Tried to install that file with my new display (using thefastboot
command line tool) but it gave me an error that the display serial number doesn't match up with the serial number from the cal file. So this is definitely a display issue and shouldn't be fixed by factory resets, Android updates, etc. My guess is that only genuine google displays have a.signed.cal
file hosted on thestorage.googleapis.com/
domain.
Maybe someone from Google can confirm or deny this?

First, you need to go here, and download the Google USB driver:

right click and select Install. If the Install option is not listed (Win11
doesn't show it at first), click More Options at the bottom of the menu.

Fingerprint Calibration Tool workaround
I apologize if this was already posted, delete it if needed.
So I just got my screen replaced on my pixel 6 pro today because it randomly died on me (lol) and was so excited to get back my phone. Everything works but the fingerprint. I just didn't want to go back to the UbreakIfix store tomorrow so I tried to do it myself.
The fingerprint calibration is such a headache because it's supposed to be a 1 2 3 easy steps but there's some extra steps you need to do.
This is how I made it to work:
1.Before you turn your phone off, go to the developer options and enable USB debugging.
2. Go here Get the Google USB Driver | Android Developers and download the google USB zip file (this is for windows BTW). Link
3. Unzip however you want it
4. Open the folder usb_Driver and rightclick "android_winusb" and install
5. To make sure it installed, connect your pixel (with USB debugging still enabled) to your PC and open "device manager". You should see "Android Devices > Android Composite ADB Interface". Link:
6. Disconnect pixel from PC
7. Go here Google Fingerprint Calibration website and follow the instructions.
SHOULD WORK!
Good luck!

However you must SCROLL DOWN.
Next make sure you have your phone plugged into your laptop / desktop and have the driver installed, if not install using these steps
Make sure you have developer options enabled on the pixel > settings> about BUILD NUMBER (CLICK UNTIL IT SAYS DEVELOPER MODE ENTERED)
Then go to settings> system> developer options > USB DEBUGGING (ON)
Then power off and enter FAST BOOT (hold power and volume for 3 secs) it doesnt always work i noticed so just turn off and try again.
Then go to the the page
Go thru until it asks to connect phone, do so and follow prompts.
It worked for me. I was clicking the above option all along and wondering why it wasnt working ha

Power off and enter BOOTLOADER and not FAST BOOT
(hold power and volume down ) even commands via adb gets u in bootloader but in there (bootloader) you cant download that "software" it will
get you "Couldn't find the unique calibration software for this device "
use VOLUME buttons to ENTER into RECOVERY MODE then press POWER OFF and VOL UP SIMULTANEOUSLY (same time it should enter to recovery mode menu)
(there it says Android recovery)
from there navigate to ENTER FASTBOOT (this is a differnet menu)
here it says FASTBOOTD (idk whts that stands for)

Now I'm experiencing constant black screens during updates, reboots and "calibration", having took the latest system update, if I try and "calibrate" after it completes the phones screen goes black, doesn't turn on and the only way to get the phone out of this is by removing the screen and reattaching, it then begins to load android like normal, this was also happening during the system update, having a black screen while it updates and waiting and hoping for the best, not fun!
Would be great if we didn't have to jump through so many hoops, to get a core feature working again without spending a fortune on a genuine display.
Pixel 7 Pro fully updated as of 27/6/24

i.e when the command request for this cert the software simply respond it's not on the server.
Can someone share this kind of link with a certificate which exist on the Google server. Maybe you can get that link with the old display (the original one). If someone can share a working certificate which exist on server, I'll try to generate certificates for others which is not on Google server.
Thanks
