This has been fixed recently! Either in the new May security patch or a Google App update. Or both! Thank you so much! FINALLY!

What type of Android issue is this? Accessibility
When did this happen?
Feb 12, 2022 02:02 GMT+01:00
What steps would let us observe this issue?
1. Set the phone to US (English).
2. Change the Google Assistant's language to "English (United States)" AND "German" as second language by heading to the Google App > tapping on profile photo in the upper right corner > Settings > Google Assistant > Languages.
3. Go to System Settings and search for "Accessibility" in the search field. Tap on "Accessibility".
4. Under the "Screen Reader" category tap "TalkBack".
5. Tap "Use TalkBack" > Tap "Allow".
6. Invoke Google Assistant.
7. Try the same with the TalkBack service off.
What did you expect to happen?
Even if an accessibility service is activated, Google Assistant shouldn't automatically switch into "accessibility mode" with an ugly UI/UX. It should, by default, ask the user if they want to keep using the modern new Google Assistant UI/UX or if they want to switch to the "accessibility mode" Google Assistant. For that you will need to add an app dialogue and appropriate UI, of course.
What actually happened?
The Google Assistant switched to another, more ugly UI/UX and didn't allow the user to choose the more modern version.
How often has this happened?
Every time
What was the effect of this issue on your device usage, such as lost time or work?
