- what I did:
Start API 30 Emulator x86_64 , open emulator settings via floating window , delete snapshot, although it was set to "cold boot". Prompt said " need to reboot emulator" "okay" > emulator crashes , AS Device manager says "still running" "green light"

- tried:
 starting AVD again. AS brings prompt see image.

- error:
 this path does not exist in the system. The avd was renamed. AS simply prints "avd name", however AS in its wisdom didn't rename the FOLDER with that AVD. The User has to maintain the system and has no idea which AVD AS is refering to

- solution:

the actual path to the AVD  was :

<home>/.android/avd/Pixel_2_API_30_NEW.avd  , "device manager" said "11_API_30.avd" which is just the "new" name of the AVD ...
