JEP 420: Pattern Matching for switch (Second Preview) is a pure Java language feature, so it should not require and changes to D8/R8.

The JEP says at the very end

the resulting implementation will likely make use of dynamic constants (JEP 309).

Therefore there should be tests to catch if unsupported dynamic constants (they are only partially supported for the JaCoCo use case) are actually used.
