One reason that makes this option better than recent tasks:
I can't take a screenshot of outside the tasks.
I can't even take screenshot of the recent tasks itself.

I agree, biggest disappointment about the new power menu is the lack of the screenshot button
je...@google.com <je...@google.com> #5
Yeah bring it back please. I used it so often
je...@google.com <je...@google.com> #6
I can agree that's how I take all my screenshots and it feels weird not having it there
ji...@google.com <ji...@google.com> #7
Why mark as duplicate to a place that isn't accessible to anyone?

agree, please bring back screenshot button when I click power button

For those who haven't seen it the screenshot button is there when you hold the home button to view recently used apps
is...@gmail.com <is...@gmail.com> #10
@9 You don't hold home button to show recent tasks, even since Android 3.x...
And showing the recent tasks, it's not a real screenshot of what's shown. It's a screenshot of the tasks you choose.
If you want to take a screenshot that includes the notifications, for example, you can't do it using this method.

The screenshot button doesn't even show for me in the MRI menu and as the power button screenshot option is gone I have to use an app to take screenshots.

@#13: I thought I was missing something too. Search your Settings for "navigation". Are you using 2 button? It looks like it will only appear if you have 3 button or gesture navigation set. Sounds like a separate bug. If that's been reported in another thread I'll star it. You can also take a screenshot with Volume Down + Power.

Just noticed this. I like the controls showing up, but would like the one-step screenshot back.

Please increase the priority of this issue from P4. At the time of writing this issue has 104 duplicate reports. There are numerous posts on the Android Help Community about it, as well as dozens of threads on Google, Android and Pixel Reddit communities. This is clearly an important request from a lot of people.

At least allow to have the previous UI (with the screenshot) in case I disable those device-controls.

This is a huge disappointment. Unhappy customer here.
al...@gmail.com <al...@gmail.com> #33
It's ridiculous to have 3 navigation modes and decide to remove the screenshot button from one of them. Have just updated and am very irritated with this new "feature" both three button and gesture are so clunky I can't stand to switch to either mode.
ch...@gmail.com <ch...@gmail.com> #34
New screenshot and share not working. Not really sure this will be better. I really liked the long holding the power button to take screenshots. 🙄 What's up with the roll your eyes emoji? I think it's better with the eyes looking to the side.
[Deleted User] <[Deleted User]> #35
Power button screenshot back please.
hm...@google.com <hm...@google.com> #36
I can't even begin to express my anger at this. And donty even get me started on the fact, that there is no screenshot button either even in recent tasks when using 2-button navigation. HOW IS THIS "INTENDED BEHAVIOR"? WTF?
ki...@gmail.com <ki...@gmail.com> #37
I agree with everybody else on here. Intended behavior should not be to make things harder to do. If you want to add screenshots to the recent menu, go for it, but why remove it from the power menu?!? WTF is 100% right!
ah...@gmail.com <ah...@gmail.com> #38
As an avid user of the 2-button navigation method, I find it unusual that the option for screenshots does not appear on my screen. Also, why is this not in the power menu? I have never, not intend to, use devices that require the new power options, yet lost a vastly improved function over previous generations that I use every day. Is there a reason for this omission that caters to mass input? At least allow us to customize the power menu with features we want to use.
