da...@gmail.com <da...@gmail.com> #10
An update on my side of things, so looks like I wasn't in the Beta Program related to the "Google Assistant" app but I am in the "Google" beta. Checked the Play Store today for an update and this appeared which did not appear yesterday for me. Updated this and now I have been able to process that additional download for Google Assistant.

I have the same problem on a Pixel 6A. I've tried clearing the cache. All the apps are up to date. Android is up to date. I tried setting the language to US English and then it stopped working all together. This is pitiful

I have 4 models of pixels and my pixel.5 is the only one effected I see different models are effected with the same issue . The assistant not working makes the phone useless in my work applications . I have bought almost every generation of the pixel and can say these issues should not persist with no fix . I have done everything listed for fixes no luck only thing left is to factory reset .

Same issue here. Changing the language from Australian English to US English seems to be a workaround but that's not good enough.

I JUST got this issue this morning. Pixel 6 Pro. I'm in Canada. I switched to English (United States) and that fixed the problem. But I shouldn't have to do that. Tried everything to fix. Google 1 support was clueless.
tr...@gmail.com <tr...@gmail.com> #26
UPDATE: went into Google Play store and Uninstalled the GOOGLE app. By doing this it will say "Update" . Do not update. Went back into the Google app, selected English (Canada), and now it works. The latest update of the Google App must be what messed up the assistant.
mu...@gmail.com <mu...@gmail.com> #27
For me (Pixel 6a) the solution was to update the Google app. NOT the Google Assistant app.
ja...@gmail.com <ja...@gmail.com> #28
Thanks to comment #26 . Solved the issue! American Assistant has been so annoying.
le...@gmail.com <le...@gmail.com> #29
Had the same problem on my Pixel 6a with UK english. I uninstaled the updates for the "Google" application, and then it started working again. I then updated the "Google" app again, and the assistant was then able to download the update it needed.
fr...@gmail.com <fr...@gmail.com> #30
Fixed this by going to assistant settings and adding Deutsch (Deutschland) as an additional language. I now have English (Australia) and Deutsch (Deutschland) and the assistant seems to be behaving now.
vi...@gmail.com <vi...@gmail.com> #31
Had the same issue. Fixed it by adding Deutsch (Deutschland) as an additional language. Now I have English (India) and Deutsch.
Looks like the same thing worked for many people.

Same issue on brand new pixel 6. Really annoying. None of the listed actions are making a difference
ph...@gmail.com <ph...@gmail.com> #34
Same issue on Pixel 8. My first Google phone and it will be the last one. Hate it already. How can there be a fault known for years that is still frustrating lots of people. Either Google aren't clever enough to fix it, or they simply don't care. Sigh.
