But it happened to me again last night after updating to Android 13.
This time, the screen got very dim, and the phone got extremely hot.
When I placed it on the charger it was at 50%. After 7 hours of charging, it was 38 percent.

I recreate this error using all first party chargers - wired and wireless. I recreate this issue with multiple 3rd party chargers - wired and wireless.
The phone behaves as though adaptive charging is always on; despite having disabled this setting, or toggling the setting many times.
This is frustrating, and impactful. I stood in line to preorder this phone(x2) !! The longer this goes on, the more I must consider abandoning my relationship with Google products... Its bordering on foolishness to keep getting burned with designed obsolescence.

The battery life has also been terrible and won't even last until 7pm.
Google seriously needs to at least officially recognize the issue.

As with other comments that I've read, I can sometimes get the stand to charge the phone after a restart. After that, it may or may not continue charging until the battery is full. Sometimes it will only charge for a few minutes after the restart, then will no longer charge the phone. The stand still charges my Pixel Buds Pro. I've tried all of Google's troubleshooting steps, plus any other that I can think of. Disconnecting the cable from the stand and plugging directly into my phone will charge the phone just fine.
I haven't tried wireless charging other than the Pixel Stand 2, because I don't really have access to another wireless charger. Google support is sending a replacement.

Pixel Stand 1 charged only intermittently (about 5% of the time) after the Android 13 update and just makes the phone hot. After the September update, Pixel Stand 1 just shows an orange light and does not charge the phone at all and just makes it hot.
It successfully charges my Pixel 5 and my Pixel Buds Pro without issue.
On Pixel Stand 2, charging works about 75% of the time with rest either not charging at all, or charging so slow that I get maybe 10-20% over the course of an 8 hour overnight session.
I have tried to safe mode, "Forget Device" for each, restarted the phone, turned the phone on and off, changed power bricks, changed cables, changed plugging the wire in to the power brick to plugging into a laptop as well for the charger too. No luck on any of that.

the bug exists also on a Pixel 4 device with same behavior. But update support ended since last October update. Are you going to provide a bug fix also for the older Pixel 4?
Thanks,
Ludwig

My wife's Pixel 6 ( which is a bit newer than mine) started doing this a few weeks ago.
It is good that it is assigned to someone but being a Priority P3 bug tells me that perhaps this will never get fixed. I guess we will see. This issue certainly hobbles our use case for the devices and is quite maddening.

Same Issue with Pixel 7 Pro after Dezember 2022 Update. No wireless charging station works and toggeling "Battery Share" does not work and freezes the Animation for a short duration.
I created a Bug-Report (posted seperately as restricted) in Safe Mode while doing the following:
- System boot (safe-mode) ~ 17:35:50
- Placed on wireless charger ~ 17:36:30
- Removed from wireless charger ~ 17:36:45
- Toggled reverse charging ~ 17:37:00
- Bug-report creation ~ 17:37:20
I've already checked the Bug-Report and found an Erorr log in the exact moment where I toggled the "Battery Share".
12-26 17:37:00.556 1000 905 905 E vendor.google.wireless_charger@1.3-service-vendor: enable rtx mode
I don't know if this Error Log is really conected to the Problem but maybe this will help you narrow down the Problem somehow.
PS: Today I installed the Pixel 7 Pro Januar 2023 Update and the Problem still persists.

I also have the problem with my Pixel 7 Pro after the current patch that my Pixel Stand (Gen 2) is not recognized by the Pixel 7 Pro and the inductive charging therefore does not work (anymore).
bl...@gmail.com <bl...@gmail.com> #90
It seems that my phone will charge just fine when turned off. But when it is turned on, I get the charging to not charging cycle of death.
This indicates to me that it is definitely not a hardware issue but rather a software issue.
