Good candidate from log: java.lang.ClassCastException: class kotlin.Result$Failure cannot be cast to class java.lang.String (kotlin.Result$Failure is in unnamed module of loader com.intellij.ide.plugins.cl.PluginClassLoader @df9dd94; java.lang.String is in module java.base of loader 'bootstrap')
So I guess this could be assigned to the plugin team

Comment 4 is interesting insofar that kotlin is not used in my project code. I could be well behind on updating the plugin.

Might this be related to issue 259503570 ?
Description
As you can imagine, this is very annoying. One example is that the module settings cannot be opened.
There are several stack traces in the terminal where I start studio.
It also seems to block upgrading AGP. When I start the UI for upgrading AGP, then studio basically hangs.
When I start the UI, the assistant pops up. At this point studio hangs. The three buttons appear to have no effect. Also the close button in the assistant title bar has no effect.
Note that running gradle from the command line is fine.
Note also a different, much simpler project doesn't have this problem, so it is something in the project.
