What you would like to accomplish:

Some users would find the possibility to enable extended retention for their log-based metrics as they do their custom logs useful, with a limit at 24 months and support for custom resolution.

How this might work:

Add the possibility to treat log-based metric retention periods as the retention period for custom logs

If applicable, reasons why alternative solutions are not sufficient:

Users might want these metrics to be available for longer amounts of time, be it for compliance, security, or historic event analysis reasons. Having the possibility directly integrated on the platform would simplify these setups.

Other information (workarounds you have tried, documentation consulted, etc):

Users are currently free to use other features like the APIs to export their metrics for example, and retain them manually in the setup of their choice.
