Currently, for the GKE Ingress we can use Cloud CDN using a Backend Config CRD[1].

Here are the asks:

Is there any timeline for supporting Cloud CDN with the GKE Gateway controller?
Since the Gateway API is basically an evolution of the Ingress Resource would this work in a similar way for the Gateway Controller too? i.e. using a Backend Config CRD?

It would be good to have the GKE gateway controller support this soon, possibly by the time when it is completely in GA.

https://cloud.google.com/kubernetes-engine/docs/release-notes#October_17_2024) today the 2024-R2 release added some functionalities to the GKE Gateway Controller except for the Cloud CDN support. Are there any updates on when the next release will be and if will it include the Cloud CDN integration we are waiting for?
