I am still regularly receiving reports about this issue, and it seems it has not been addressed in the latest 1.4.0-rc01 release.

Seems like a fairly easy fix on our end. I'll see to that it is fixed in 1.5.
Description
Library version used: "androidx.car.app:app-automotive:1.2.0"
On the topic of supporting navigation intents, Google Assistant will always launch Google Navigation and it will not launch the last used AAOS navigation app.
The behavior is correct for an Android Auto app, but not an Android Automotive app.
Steps to reproduce:
On step 4, Google Navigation is always launched. It is expected to launch the last navigation app used.
