Android 14 Beta 1 has this same issue. I've even tried removing all fingerprints and readding them with no luck. Rebooting doesn't fix it. You're always forced to enter your PIN or Pattern code. Face Unlock seems to work without any issues.

Pixel 7 Pro Android 14 Beta 1. Fingerprint setup timed out. Can't use fingerprint sensor. I'm able to unlock phone with other security features but the fingerprint sensor is not working. I've deleted registered fingerprints and tried to register new ones but a pop up error message appears. Attached a screenshot of the message. Fingerprint sensor worked fine before upgrading to Android 14.

Mine did this once and then suddenly it works again and hasn't happened yet
again. Nothing seemed to trigger it and nothing seemed to fix it either.
Not restarts or anything.

Sorry it didn't work for you. I found that it may be related to the bug entitled "com.android.qns crashed" as it didn't happen on this reboot and may be related.

Same problem, after update (Android 14 bta 1, UPB1.230309.014) the fingerprint reader doesn't work, unregistering the previous fingerprints didn't help. Can't register new ones and get the error "Fingerprint setup timed out"

I have faced same issue after flashing UPB1 from flash.android.com

Similar issue here, when my screen is locked and I click on a notification, I get the finger print unlock, but when I touch it, it immediately switches to the keypad input. However, if I just unlock the screen without clicking a notification the fingerprint generally works.

Fingerprint unlock not working on device. However it does work with apps that use biometric unlock. So it's just unlocking the device that is the issue. Pixel 6 Pro.

managed to get fingerprint unlock to work again. Deleting stored face unlock model + reboot, on top of deleting deleting stored prints hours prior, did the trick. Hopefully re-adding face unlock doesn't break it again.

Fingerprint reader doesn't work for phone unlock. After reading the fingerprint, I'm always asked to enter the PIN.
Fingerprint reader still works for app auth.
Face reader and PIN still work for phone unlock.

I dunno if this is related or a different bug, but I can use the fingerprint scanner but I have to wake the display with the power button. Under normal Android 13 the fingerprint will work even if the display is off but showing the Always on Display.

Android 14 Beta 1 has this same issue. I've even tried removing all fingerprints and readding them with no luck. Rebooting doesn't fix it. You're always forced to enter your PIN or Pattern code.

My sensor works if I go straight to unlocking, but if I open a notification on the lock screen, then try to use my fingerprint, it immediately opens the pin unlock and won't let me unlock with fingerprint.
The message says "press firmly on the sensor", but I'm pressing it the same as I do when going straight to unlock, so that's not the real issue.

I experience the same issue after the last april issue on my Pixel 6 pro. Restart and deleting and adding fingerprints does not resolve the issue.

Before update to Android 14, thumbprint unlock worked and was available as an option in the lock screen settings. After updating to Android 14 beta, the lock screen setting no longer has a option for the thumb print. It still contains copies of my thumbprints for apps but won't let me reset my lock screen to thumb unlock.

I have the same exact issue. The fingerprint option shows up in the settings, but it just shows a lock icon on the lock screen. I've reset the fingerprints and it still hasn't fixed it. I can't find the option to disable the lockdown mode button. Maybe it was automatically enabled in a previous update, but if not that may be why.

Unlock using Fingerprint started working for me out of the nothing. Didn't recognize any Update, but today morning my battery were running Out of Power. After recovering battery and starting Up the device, Fingerprint Symbol and functionality came Back after second unlock of the device. Not Sure If there were an Update from your end, but If yes IT was Not visible to me. Restart have been done before either, but No Power loss Situation.

Fingerprint reader opens for one finger but not the other (only 2 registered). It is a consistent problem. Try one finger twice (nothing) then open with the other one.

Fingerprint unlock remains inconsistent. If I report a problem it will work usually but then if I reset the phone (just power on/off) the fingerprint lock will quit working.

This problem started following the reboot after Android 14 beta 1 was installed.
As others have reported, Fingerprint unlock is not working from the lock screen. It requires entry of my PIN to unlock.
However, once unlocked, apps that use fingerprint to open work with no problem. I have 4 financial apps that can be accessed with fingerprint and all 4 work just as before.

It seems fingerprint can't work, no matter what I do I've tried deleting the fingerprints and we adding them. I've tried deleting the face model and nothing works. So I have come to the point of using face unlock but I don't know why fingerprint unlock is not working for the phone or any other app. But I can add and remove fingerprints at the same time

Fingerprint scanner just randomly stopped working, the update happened a couple weeks ago I think. I'm unsure of what occurred between it working and not working it just wasn't at some point. The options of screen locks do not have fingerprint and only normal screen lock options are available to select. Resetting the phone did nothing have not attempted a complete shut down and reboot yet.

What does the status say "fixed"? This is still not working when the
