Yes please :) Along with a more specific definition of how the Popular Times are determined (how much history? done by mobile device activity? check ins?)

Making popular times available by day of the week would be awesome
st...@google.com <st...@google.com> #4
It already is Jeffrey, you can toggle by day on mobile or desktop

+smythe who is the current TL (and has the most knowledge around the external data feature)

@r22, I think Jeff is referring to the ability to split popular times by day of week in the information released by the API, not the currently existing web GUI.
Maybe the info appears as a nested object? e.g. "popular times" > "day of week" > "hour of day" > traffic count

There are no active plans to enable external data in Policy Controller.
If this is something users are interested in, we should consider the edge cases before proceeding, including:
- Policies that use external data may not be portable. Examples:
- If Compliance Posture wants to support custom policies, this is something they may not be able to support, which would give an uneven experience.
gator CLI
does not currently support external data.
- Introducing non-local state runs the risk of unexpected denials due to changes in the external state (think Deployments being unable to launch new pods)
- External Data introduces additional latency and availability concerns -- more servers need to be live for the request to be successful, which is a systems design anti-pattern
Note the above is not exhaustive, just top-of-mind.
I'll also re-iterate Steve's request of wanting to know more about their use case.

1. + 1 to we want more details for the usecase, I have had conversation with HSBC before on this ask. They have to query additional systems to implement project access. I will try to look for notes.
2. This feature is not an ask for compliance.
3. External data has been available in OSS for a while and I have had at least 3 different customer asks for this feature. Why can't we add it to PoCo w/ best practices, documentation etc.

Hi Poonam,
Thanks for having a look.
Am working closely with HSBC on this - Could you please confirm:
1) Is there anythign that you need from the account team or HSBC on this feature request please?
2) If there are any plans or timelines for this so that HSBC can plan accordingly.
Thanks

Would be extremely helpful to have access to this data directly via the API. Is it maybe available via another API?

No update on here for a while now... Any news on making this available ?

Description
What you would like to accomplish: We wanted to request if it would be possible to add an option for enabling External Data features for Policy Controller in Anthos clusters.
