For food places, the Place Details response is missing the food menu (unlike some other services like TripAdvisor or Grubhub). Serious food apps need menu data, which makes it unlikely that we (or similar apps) would build on top of Google Place. We have most of our tech-stack on Google - and love it, so we're really trying not to leave but would likely have to unless this capability is added.
