The error you posted state "activity is cancelled by the user". This implies the request was cancelled somehow during the request.
Can you grab a bugreport and attach it to this bug?

Hello
We see you've attached videos and the app that you used to test. Thank you for doing so. However, if you could send us a bugreport on the device, that will allow us to dive deeper into this issue and pinpoint exactly where the issue may be. I'll be sending this to you and requesting your support to do so.
Thank you and look forward to helping solve this issue.

Hello! Thank you for your patience. Our team often has to prioritize tasks from a backlog, so we appreciate your understanding. The bugreport you've sent is exactly what we're looking for. I'm wondering if you can do the following:
- Ensure the time of the bugreport matches the video. For example, in your video, we see that the issue occurs at 4:55. But the bugreport you've sent occurs at a different snapshot.
- Please add both the video and the bugreport in a new bug.
We appreciate your support to improve Credential Manager, and thank you for your patience.

why does the time matter in this case? the bug is reproducible

A few additional findings on this issue, hopefully they provide useful - Using the YubiKey Manager software it's possible to change the interfaces that are configured for the security key.
The "Yubico OTP" feature seems to be enabled by default but if we turn it off then the same key appears to work without issue on the Samsung devices we've tested.
As such, we believe that the issue might be related to some kind of broken interaction between Samsung devices and the "Yubico OTP" feature rather than between Samsung devices and security keys in general.

Thank you for your exploration into this issue. To answer your first question, the bugreport and video snapshots, when they align, allow us to see errors and help inform our next steps, including reproduction. However, it looks like you were able to get your situation resolved in this case!
We will follow through on our side of things to see why Samsung devices have this particular issue (and if it is in fact on-going). Please feel free to reply with any more information, but in the meantime I'll send this to Diego who can help us for discussions with Samsung.
Thanks for your assistance to continue improving Credential Manager!

Hi, I tried to reproduce this issue with a yubikey configured with OTP interface on a Samsung device, and I wasn't able to reproduce it.
We also noted that the Google Play Services version used in the device reported in the bug report is not up-to-date
Could you please update Google Play Services and try to reproduce the issue again?
Thanks

I've taken over from hiro.nakamura.fsv@gmail.com for this issue.
I have tried reproducing the issue again using the CredentialManagerSample app (
Samsung Galaxy S22+, Android 14, latest Google Play Services (25.07.33):
- The issue is still reproducible. I am unable to get or create a passkey on my security key when Yubico OTP is enabled.
- Please see attached dumpstate, successful create/get with Yubico OTP disabled followed by unsuccessful create/get with Yubico OTP enabled. Around 2:52-2:54pm device time.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, Android 15, latest Google Play Services (25.07.33):
- The issue is intermittently reproducible, please see attached dumpstate.
- Successful create/get with Yubico OTP disabled followed by sometimes unsuccessful sometimes successful create/get with Yubico OTP enabled. Around 3:16-3:18pm device time.
So, on an Android 14 Samsung device I am able to fully reproduce the issue. On an Android 15 Samsung device the issue seems to happen only sometimes. When Yubico OTP is disabled the issue never happens.
Please let me know if I can assist any further.
Thanks!
Description
Using a Samsung device running Android 14 we get the following errors when trying to create/get a passkey on a USB security key:
androidx.credentials.exceptions.CreateCredentialCancellationException: User cancelled the selector androidx.credentials.exceptions.GetCredentialCancellationException: User cancelled the selector
These errors seem to be thrown from the createCredential()/getCredential() request when the "Confirm with PIN" dialog appears on screen. Our assumption is that Credential Manager gets confused when this screen appears and believes that the user has exited the flow when in fact they are still in the flow.
We are unable to reproduce this issue on a Google Pixel 7 Pro and Pixel 8 (both Android 14) so believe the issue could be Samsung-specific.
For reference the security key we have used is a Yubico YubiKey 5Ci
Thanks!
Component used: Credentials
