really need to get this info from api. The owner's mail is needed to verify if someone who says that is owner of place is really owner (not the person who wants to do bad things to his competitor business) !@

Getting the verified status would be a huge value add for our organization. Would chose places API over 4SQ any time based on the quality of the data, but having this attribute is important enough in the business process that we're on the fence b/c 4SQ does return similar data for venues/places.

We're not intending to make owner details available from the API, as that would be a honeypot for spammers. However would it be sufficient to allow you to verify that one of your users who claims to be the owner of a place, is the owner of the place? For example a flow like this:
a) your user triggers a places search and selects a specific place in the result
b) your user selects an option in your app to claim they are the owner of your place
c) your user is redirected into an OAuth flow to Google Places where they login with their Google credentials
d) once authenticated, your app is provided with an OAuth token for the user
e) your app submits that token along with a Place reference to a Places API owner verification service
e) the Places API returns a yes/no as to whether the user concerned is the verified owner of the Place

That seems sufficient, yeah. We could then offer the option for the user to contact us as the verified owner of the business, but that would be their option (i.e., they don't have to reveal that to us).

This is precisely what we need. Google has a process for verifying business claims (send a PIN in postal mail or other form of verification). Let the API users benefit from that process, because the small API users don't have the might or money to implement their own verification process and the business owners don't have the patience to go through the process again and again. This feature will significantly increase the value of the Places API. It'll also allow coupon aggregators and other place-app developers to associate businesses with Google Places DB (gid or something).

If the user logs in to your app with their Google MyPlace admin account and gives you the necessary permission, then you will be able to pull up a list of said users owned and verified places.

What's the deal here Google? The new Verification feature released in GMB API v4.2 is only halfway there without the ability to check for claimed/verified status. Merchants are often unaware of whether they've claimed their listing, so before we can ask them to think hard about which gmail account they used to claim the listing we'd like to be able to assert conclusively that the listing has/hasn't been claimed. Logical, right?

Please, what happens that it takes so long to implement a simple query. The only thing we need is to verify with an email if a google account is the owner or not of a company or business. I was reading Google My Business Api and I noticed that you can obtain certain information in this way, but to get access to this api you must have some requirements that I do not have. Can you tell us what is the reason why you do not implement this query?

As we are exploring this, it would be extremely helpful if we can get a deeper understanding of the value you / your users would receive from having access to the verified status through the Places API.
Specifically, we'd love to understand what use case you're working on, why this feature might positively influence it, and get a better understanding of specific web or business metrics that you may be able to improve (e.g. web page engagement, increased number of users).
We won't be able to respond to everyone individually, but we promise to read everything, and send an update if this gets formally approved.

We would use it to inform existing and prospective clients that we found a google places (GMB) listing that matches their name, address, phone number, etc; however that listing doesn't have a verified owner. This would allow us to inform the client of their opportunity to claim ownership of their listing and take advantage of the benefits of doing so. It would enable us to provide informed and actionable feedback to a business owner, in addition to improving GMB data accuracy and user engagement for Google. Win Win.

There are countless good/valid uses for this. For example, as per this article (https://localsearchforum.com/threads/creating-a-map-identifying-unclaimed-map-listing-in-a-defined-geographic-region.51719/ ), "Recently I was asked whether it would be possible to produce a map displaying all businesses and non-profits with unclaimed Google Map listings within a geographic region such as a city. This information would be used as part of an economic development initiative that is being considered." So the use case is to identify unclaimed local listings to inform municipal economic growth projects and opportunities. There are countless other such good uses for the information.

I can use the places API to display these businesses well enough... but there are details beyond the purview of what Google collects that I would like to add about these places locations. As this is a global function, it would be nice to have some level of assurance that the person adding these details is in fact the owner of that places listing.
I will gladly add the functionality myself if you'll share the source code. Or I'll come there, I haven't been to Google HQ in a while.
