The main benefit of data is analysis of them including sorting. Now Google Maps sits on a big treasure of data instead of using it and is useless comparing to TripAdvisor.
Such sorting should take into account big probability that a small number of reviews isn't representative because of chance or SEOing. So sorting rating should be the lower threshold of for example 95 % confidence interval of hypothesised population rating from the given number of reviews. For normal distributions, there is a formula for that using t-distribution, mean and standard deviation. But star rating isn't normal distribution - you can't rate something 5.2123, and because 4 stars rating mean everything from 3.5(0)1-4.4(9) you can add 1 to calculated standard deviation and prevent that a place with 2x5 stars reviews would be the top of the world, but better would be to consult professional statisticians. More than 1 to have a representative opinion.
Ratings should be also weighted by age.

Description
Can we have a mechanism to get the list of business sorted based on ratings, like we have based for distance.
And also I have a query, i see different results when we use to get list of business details using place api (text search - pubs in london )to what we see on local business results page provided by Google, I thought Google local business search also used the same place api to show the business details.
