Would be nice if we can move IPs between Regional and Global.

We're in the same boat, we had been using a regional VM and are now moving to GLB, so we'll have to change our DNS to use a different static. +1 for companies in our spot in the future.

Moving from local to global and vice versa would be real convenient. I am working with Istio currently. istio-ingressgateway is of the type LoadBalancer. So I can only attach Local IP. But I have a pre-existing static IP that is Global.

Hello,
we need it for a customer that we saved an IP for him.
The customer already configured this IP in his systems and doesn't want to change the IP.
We need to move this IP to a global so we can use it in the LB.
Is there an ETA for this feature?
Also opened a ticket - [Case#26620436] Move a regional external IP to a Global external IP.
Thanks,
Haim

+1 - Customer needs the ability migrate regional IP to Global IP. This is a critical customer application.

Agreed on this being critical as we upgrade and make improvements. It's very difficult to have hundreds of our clients update their firewall rules with a new IP address as we move to a global IP.

Actually, from client perspective, it is not matter is it global or regional IP, only what needs my client is an IP which belongs to some country in some specific region and Google managed certificates (which currently only supported by Global Load Balancer).
And, in the same time, Global Load Balancer suggest using global IP addresses which belong to US region.
In total, it will be glad to have Google-manged certificated together with IP address which belongs to specific country (or region).

IP addresses are deployed as netblocks, with each netblock bound to a specific scope (i.e. either a specific region or global in the case of anycast addresses used for L7 XLB). In order to change the scope of a particular IP address, it would require either redeploying an entire netblock (which would disrupt other customers using addresses within the netblock), or disaggregating the netblock to allow a specific /32 to be routed to a different scope. Disaggregation is not practical, and would result in operational complexity that would compromise reliability.
As an alternative, customers may use BYOIP, which can be deployed regionally or globally, and allows customers direct, self-service control over the routing scope of their netblocks. Please see BYOIP documentation for more information.

Description
We have an existing regional IP address which we wanted to use together with the HTTP(S) global load balancer, but have been unable to do so. We would need to request a new, global IP address - but that's not an option for us, as the IP address must remain the same since it's configured on several connected parties and can't be changed without lots of efforts.
