Im having the same issue with my bionic. I couldn't hear the person I was talking to. All they saw was the side of my head just so I could hear them. Lol

I think this is critical bug: it makes it impossible to use google voice in public place (or at work). Can we raise the priority to High?
da...@gmail.com <da...@gmail.com> #6
Since half a year no fix! Raise priority highest because it is not usable with that critical bug!

You can choose to use the receiver in galaxy nexus, but it defaults to speaker when the voice chat begins

A fix would be appreciated. Makes the Google Talk audio call feature useless excepted at a private location (home).

Nexus S Stock - 4.1.2
In Talk, there is now a choice in the menu labeled "Audio" that let's you select the Earpiece after a call has started.
However, this setting is not remembered and must be chosen every time.
This setting should be remembered, or even better, elevated to the top-level as a speaker-icon (off by default) exactly how a normal call works.

Mazal tov! Looks like 4.1.2 does introduce the feature (even if it's not optimal, it's at least there!). Thanks Google!

a....@gmail.com <a....@gmail.com> #32

ab...@gmail.com <ab...@gmail.com> #33
Wow, more than a year and still stuck on the same problem! surprising!!
ma...@gmail.com <ma...@gmail.com> #34
It's a feature:-)
da...@gmail.com <da...@gmail.com> #35
Actually it is fixed in the latest version. It's just that you're not getting the latest software on your phone because it's not a Nexus..
ab...@gmail.com <ab...@gmail.com> #36
its a feature the user community completely hates! so don't understand why its still there ;)
ab...@gmail.com <ab...@gmail.com> #37
oh no. no way to upgrade the version on s3?
da...@gmail.com <da...@gmail.com> #38
to...@malcolmson.ca <to...@malcolmson.ca> #39
If 'latest version' refers to 4.1 then Galaxy S3 users should receive that soon (even in obscure countries like mine). I would recommend getting into rooting your phone to fix this problem, unless you want to get into that sort of thing for its own sake.
to...@malcolmson.ca <to...@malcolmson.ca> #41
Sorry didn't see that, and I'm not sure whether the 4.1.x update that Samsung is rolling out to its S3 is based on 4.1.2 or an earlier incarnation of 4.1.
ab...@gmail.com <ab...@gmail.com> #42
Hmmm so basically we will just have to wait for the update and check again!! :( man, was soo excited with the phone till I bumped into this issue :(
pe...@gmail.com <pe...@gmail.com> #43
fix that please!

same even occurs in jellybean 4.1.1... still this issue is not fixed...
da...@gmail.com <da...@gmail.com> #46
For the third time: 4.1.2 fixed it back in October.
And yes that means 4.1.1 doesn't, and will never have the fix...

Can't hear voice chat unless put ear to speaker. How to have it play voice chat handsfree?
Description
- Send or receive a voice call on Google Talk
What happened:
- The audio output is on the speaker phone, and there's no way to make it just come through the phones normal speaker, like a regular phone call
Expected behavior:
- Set normal speaker as default for voice calls and external speaker for videos.
Device: Nexus S
Running Android 2.3.4
