Disable web scripts in accessibilty solves this issue.

I noticed that worked yesterday ... but does disabling web scripts not have a negative impact on other things?

That I don't know. I haven't encountered any problems because of it, but I also don't use the browser very much. I have not seen a problem with apps either.
fl...@gmail.com <fl...@gmail.com> #9
I've seen similar behavior on ICS; the browser keeps using accessibility scripts even if Talkback is switched off (as if the accessibility scripts in the browser access the TTS themselves instead of going through an accessibility service).
ni...@gmail.com <ni...@gmail.com> #10
Exactly the same problem for my app, this really annoys users as they have to go through a lot to desactivate the talking feature.

I'm running 4.02 on my GN, and when I open Google Books, it beings "reading aloud" every time I open a book. I turn off the feature within Google Books, but when I reopen the app, it reads aloud again.
I have Talkback turned off in accessibility settings. I've also turned off 'install web scripts' as I heard this was a workaround fix, but it did not work.

Yes, I get this too. VZW GNex 4.0.2. If I turn on lightflow in accesibility services I get the voice/reading accesibility service turning on (it doesn't show it's turned on, but it will read webpages etc.). But with lightflow turned off in the accesibility service menu, lightflow works fine.
la...@gmail.com <la...@gmail.com> #14
Same here ... so since Light Flow functions without it being turned on in Accessibility Services, why is it there? Hmmm
pd...@gmail.com <pd...@gmail.com> #15
Same issue here. With lightflow enabled and Talkback disabled, google books reads everything out loud to me. As soon as I disable lightflow the voice goes away. I haven't had any issues with the web browse though. GN 4.0.2 non root.

Yeah, we all have this issue. Google doesn't care. They got new leadership and their new policy changed from "Do no evil" to "Do only things that make money by selling user information". This has been an issue for 5 months and still not a peep from the developers.
The other problem may be that it's mostly an issue for the book reader, and most Americans don't read.

This started happening for me a few days ago. No new apps have been installed and I have Talkback disabled under accessibility. I *DO* have Light Flow installed but I have had it installed for months and this just started happening. Did Light Flow get an update lately? I have it set to automatically update so I'm not sure. ???
One other thing is that now I have a yellow box that sometimes makes my browser glitchy as well as Facebook. It appears around a whole post/update/web search result/web page name/etc. When the Talkback starts malfunctioning, I notice that it's reading what's in that yellow box. The yellow box is SUPER ANNOYING ( nearly as bad as the Talkback ). I can't get rid of this either. Related maybe???

This error has been happening since Dec. so I don't think it has anything to do with an update with Lightflow. And I haven't noticed any Lightflow updates recently anyways. It's a problem with Google's code. But they're too busy hacking people's WiFi networks to do anything about it.
an...@gmail.com <an...@gmail.com> #28
Could someone who has this problem try going into google play, searching for talkback and seeing if they are on the latest version. Even though it's built in on lots of phones it won't update on the market automatically according to the talkback site.
Just wondering if there's a bug in a version of talkback that causes this (I don't get the issue myself, but lots of users of our app see it)

Hi Guys,
I've figured out a work around to disable TTS on the phone until this issue is remedied. If you go to Settings > Apps > All > Google TTS Engine you can disable talk back. You will receive an error message when entering books or whatever app is talking to you, but it is well worth not having the phone yell everything at you!

This is what worked for me on my test S3:
- Go into your phone settings -> accessibility
- Turn talkback on, select "settings" from the bottom of the page
- Switch off all the talkback checkboxes
- Then switch talkback off again
- Go back into phone settings -> application manager
- Choose the "all" tab
- Find google text to speech (tts), click on it and click "disable"
- Find samsung test to speech, click on disable.
This seems to work for me, and I've tested Google Navigation and still get voice in that.

I've turned off all talkback settings. I've disabled web scripts.
I'm not prepared to disable all TTS functionality because I use it on a regular basis in various ways.
The point is this bug report is to get it fixed, not to simply work around it by disabling other functionality, right? :)
Thanks.

My Motorola Razr wasn't affected and I had both Tasker and Light Flow enabled in accessibility.
I have only ever experienced the issue on Samsung phones and that seems to be the general consensus on most forums too.
Some peeps have got varying levels of success by disabling all the settings in TalkBack (enable TB, change settings, disable TB). Some others have gone so far as to disable both Google and Samsung TTS but this stops S-Voice and other useful features from working, so I've read.
What's weird is that everyone seems to be affected in a slightly different way. I only get the voice-over when zooming out from the homescreen to the homescreen preview view and then again when returning back to any of the homescreens, or "workspaces" as the phone likes to call them. I've read others who get a narration when opening the app drawer or pressing the menu button on the homescreen. If it was a consistent bug in Samsung's wares, wouldn't we all get the same narrations from the same actions??
I hope Samsung resolve this ol' timer soon!

For what it's worth, this isn't necessarily just a TalkBack issue, that's just part of it. I say this because I tried to disable the voice that occurs when I edit the home screens by deleting TalkBack from my S3 (rooted) using Titanium Backup. Despite having completely removed it with TB and rebooting the phone, I still get the voice on edit of the home screen. Install web scripts is and has always been disabled.
I had no change in behaviour after installing LightFlow - it did this before I installed it, but then again, I don't use folders on my home screens.

I've got the same issue and can confirm its not related exclusively to TalkBack. Sometimes users will enable my service for StatusBar+ in Accessibility but the events for the AccessibilityService are NEVER fired. I use ACRA and can see that my service is in fact active in Settings.Secure and not the other app, yet both run and mine does not receive the necessary notifications. I've also never experienced this issue myself if I only use one service, but as soon as I activate two it all falls apart.

None of the suggestions above worked for me (enabling/disabling the 'TalkBack' options, uninstall the app etc etc).
As a last resort (since I do like TTS in Driving Mode) I was about to disable the Google TTS Engine but instead tried the 'Clear data'; that seems to have cured it. TTS still works in Driving Mode but no more "Folder Open", "Folder Close".

====================FIX====================
After reading all of these posts I kinda stressed myself :|
No more TalkBacking! :D
Tested and Working on the Samsung Galaxy S3!
I came to this fix (it's not really a fix but a working workaround) because I was lucky. =)
Here you go guys n gals ->
1. Just turn off "LightFlow" in the settings menu .. you know the one thats right underneath the TalkBack setting? That's the bugger!! =)
2. Go select your "LightFlow" app icon and turn it on from there .. it'll say something about it not working right if you don't activate it in the main settings and open up a popup to lead you there :| just ignore it all!
Just a note, before disabling it in the main settings I'd recommend that you setup the colors. programs and whatever (that's what I did) cause I don't know if it will work doing it the other way around (disabling it first).
PS. Don't take this over to some other website/blog & whatever, claiming that this is " A Your Find" without asking for my permission, ain't Christian like.
God Bless!! <3

I've also googling a lot to found a solution for this very annoying bug and I try many things.
In my previous comment I would say that some feature works well (SMS, for example, like you said), but others doesn't work, for example Imo.Im. For my usage this is not acceptable, so I didn't think that this could be a reasonable solution to the bug. Certainly for many others this is a great solution.

Your saying that Imo.Im doesn't work and I'm sorry to hear that but what percentage of the population really do use it? Your telling me that your not going to use the app just because it don't work for Imo.Im? I don't think so, so please be patient.
I think it's better having the more essential things working then nothing at all, don't you think? At least until it gets fixed in a future update.

I don't need it to blink when I have to go to the bathroom, just kidding! :D

I've also a GS3 and I never say that I dont't use light flow because Imo doesn't work, in fact in my case it's better to use light flow and live with the annoying talckback voice on home screen and folder. I won't to say that this solution is not good, but there would be cases in which is not acceptable. It's all about tradeoff.

Dammit. After the fix in comment #73 , the problem has randomly come back. I cleared the data from Google TTS and it was still there; cleared data from the Samsung TTS and the problem has gone away again. This is so annoying!

There's a reason why lightflow requires accessibility and that's that over 80% of notification types use it. Apps cannot be monitored to switch on or off most notifications without it. The app wouldn't ask for the service if it wasn't needed! I know as I'm the author.
Some can such as missed calls, gmail, sms
This is still an android/samsung bug. I'm guessing nobody here as an ICS phone that's not a samsung one as I've had no reports of the problem with motorola, htc or sony phones. I've got samsung development team hopefully coming back to me with their investigations into this.

@andrew,
Its written black on white, on my Galaxy S3 Stock I9300XXALF6 the SMS, MSM, GMAIL, E-MAIL, KIK, CALENDAR & NO SIGNAL are all working and it is TURNED OFF in the Accessibility Settings so I'm close to 80% don't you think?
The thing is if no one gives out their full phone specs like model, firmware and other installed tweaks we'll never pinpoint the problem.
Your saying that the problem might be Android but at the same time you said that this "bug" doesn't affect other phone brands so you ruled out this possibility yourself.
You say it might be Samsung, I can't answer you on this one since it is happening to me on my S3 with the Stock I9300XXALF6 firmware. Even if it was on Samsungs part I doubt very much that they'll go out of their way to resolve a third party app. So basically we'll have to wait until the Light Flow Team work things out in a future update.
Usually the software producers cater their software to work on hardware and not the other way around (unless there's a severe fault but I doubt this possibility).
Regards

Model: GT-9300
Android Version: 4.0.4
Baseband version: I9300DXLEA
Build number: IMM76D.I9300XXALF6
No mods or tweaks
Installed Lightflow yesterday and all was initially working ok. Then after a few hours I start getting the folder open/ folder closed annoyingness (in a male voice) that others with an S3 report above. No other aspects of talkback were active. I suspect the variation of the bug is dependent on which model phone you have because all S3 users seem to have the same issue with folder open/closed.
Talkback was off. I turned it on, turned all options to off. Then turned it off again.
- still getting folder open/folder closed
Install webscripts in accesibility menu?
- Already set to not allowed by default on my S3 so no help there
I went to Google TTS in application manager, and as suggested above, clicked Clear Data.
- The folder open/closed thing stopped. Temporarily. A couple of hours later it started up again.
So I reluctantly clicked Disable in Google TTS.
- Problem solved. For about 12 hours. Then this time the folder open/folder closed annoyingness started up in a Female voice!
So I reluctantly clicked Disable in Samsung TTS as well.
- Problem solved. At the expense of no S-voice, no briefing alarm, no streetnames in sat nav. Is it worth it??
- Now if I go into alarm clock and click alarm type -> briefing, it goes to "Unfortunately, the clock has stopped". Now this doesnt mean that I have stopped time (!)- It seems to mean that the clock app is now unstable, as I found out this morning when I had set a melody alarm last night and found that it didnt go off at all this morning. So add possible late arrival at work to the list of problems with stopping TTS!
Come on guys someone can fix this right? Could someone create a background app that regularly clears data from Google TTS and Samsung TTS every hour without having to actually disable TTS?

Trust me that all of my lights are differently colored so you must of done something wrong! :|
These notifications (differently colored) work fine: SMS, MSM, GMAIL, E-MAIL, KIK, CALENDAR & NO SIGNAL.. Until a working version comes out you have no other choice other then keeping the sounds, follow post #80 OR uninstall it and wait for an update.
PS. Your S3 rooted? Mine is...
PS2. I see that you have my same firmware but a different baseband version (mine is: XXLF5).

SGS3 user -
I just got this brand new SGS3 three weeks ago. Installed the beautiful app Lightflow, just as all you guys. And I have the same problem: irritating talkback issues.
I have used the work-around, to disable GoogleTTS & SamsungTTS. But I'm only partially contented. Or Lightflow, wrote in some wrong code, or Google / Samsung did (in my case).
Why isn't this fixed?
I would like to add that my phone is currently rooted, with some minor tweaks and rooted apps installed. The tweaks are: complete deletion of all (considered by me) bloatware, adware blocker installed, installation of Titanium Backup, and the like. I still have the factory ROM running on my phone.
I would like to be able to use all the TTS software when I feel like it.
This is a pretty huge bug if you ask me.
Furthermore uninstalling Lightflow didn't stop the talkback bug. Disabling 'installation web...' didn't work either. Disabling all kinds of things within my settings didn't work. I was almost ready to give up and re flash my phone with the factory ROM.
IT IS THAT F***ING IRRITATING GOOGLE!!! ; ENOUGH SO, THAT I AM HOPELESSLY CONSIDERING GIVING MY PHONE A F***ING HARD RESET. OR THROWING THE F***ING PHONE OUT THE WINDOW ALTOGETHER.

Hi people,
just flashed Android 4.1.1 / I9300XXDLI8 on my Galaxy SIII by Odin.
For general info, I would like to give some feedback about the peculiarities of this version
System is running quite smoothly so far and stable, but I have to complain about something! I've noticed that I can check email only manually when I start the app (every 10, 15, 30 minutes does not work / SMS from a specific number of characters in a picture message (converted but I think not a bug but by Samsung wanted it that way?) / if I want to open a pdf file, for example, the Galaxy always asks for the program with which I would like to open (when I get one anwähle and then confirm that it aLWAYS with this program is to be executed, the Galaxy still asks me every time again) / provided Lightflow is enabled in the accessibility of the Galaxy is always talking when I open a folder (this problem is probably long been known) / LightFlow itself works only conditionally if it was not enabled in the Accessibility (for calls and SMS flashes the Galaxy merrily although one has read or seen the missed call SMS has, until you open the app Light Flow / WhatsApp flashes in different colors even though you have set as green)
Best regards,
Daniel

Hi!
Samsung Galaxy Nexus GSM with Jelly Bean 4.1.1, Rooted.
I just bought the app, and it works great but then I noticed that my Netflix app stopped working. It took me a couple of hours to find what made my netflix app stop working. When Light flow is on in Settings->accessibility->Light flow Netflix stops working. When I turn it off, it starts working again. If I open Netflix when Light flow is off, and then turn it on without exiting netflix, netflix still works. If I exit netflix and open it again, it stops working. I am no developer or anything by it seems to me that something that light flow does is conflicting with the netflix when it starts up.
Am I the first to have this problem or are there others?
Attached is an image of how netflix shows a blank screen and stops responding.

Yeah, the bug which this thread started off talking about is certainly an O/S bug, a real problem for those affected and an easy one to fix too. I am frankly dumbfounded that it has been around this long. You see, I've been Googling this for quite while now all reports indicate it's also in JB, well as every GA version of ICS.
Basically the problem comes down to this, any app that runs as a service in version 4.x release will cause the open folder / close messages to play whenever any folder is opened or closed.
Don't use folders to store your icons or don't have any apps that inter-operate with the O/S? Great! But if your using your phone more aggressively, as the robust s/w aftermarket Google has created strongly encourages, then you're just plain screwed.
PERIOD
That is unless the workaround previously mentioned is deployed (shutting of both the Google and the manufacturer's version if there is one.) Of course then this functionally then lost.
I frankly can't understand why Google won't put out a fix.
I say "won't" here instead of "hasn't" simply because this bug been around quite a while, it's pretty easy to diagnose, and has been well documented on the boards for at least several months.

Hi, I was having the same problem as everyone else regarding the voice commands (with galaxy s3 and lightflow).
I did this:
- Go back into phone settings -> application manager
- Choose the "all" tab
- Find google text to speech (tts), click on it and click "disable"
- Find samsung test to speech, click on disable.
This did solve the talkback problem, but when I tried to re-enable these applications (eg so that I can use read aload on google books) the applications are no longer in my list of all applications. Does anyone know where I can find them on my phone or try and download??
Thanks

People.... I was having the same issue and I have disabled the following from all apps and the automatic speech has disappeared.
Disabled from Settings --> Apps --> All:
=========================================
TalkBack
Pico TTS
Disabled from Settings --> Accessibility --> Install Web Scripts --> Do not allow
I have no clue what is "Install Web Scripts" ...
Hope this helps people. Wish there will be a patch released soon for this issue.
Thanks,

My 2¢: following comment 47 ( https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=23105#c47 ) by disabling Talkback, Samsung TTS and Google TTS from the Application Manager, it stopped saying "The Folder is Open" "The folder is closed".
However turning off the Google TTS engine it crippled the specific Llama function I wanted. I tried installing another TTS engine (eSpeak) but then the problem happens again. So it seems that it's not related to Samsung TTS but the way the folders are handled.
(Install Web Scripts setting is in "Do not allow" by default).
This is on an up to date SGS3.
IMHO, this bug should have a "high" priority considering that it's been very long, it cripples the functionality of the phone and it's easy to reproduce.

I'm really at a loss with this. I've sent diagnosis code to samsung r&d in texas as they were interested in hearing about it, but then the note2 comes out and still has the talking folders issue. I asked them to at least acknowledge reciept of the code (as I had to post it to them), but didn't even get anything.
I can create the most simple accessibility app and send it to google if anyone is interested there. The list of apps is very long that have this issue
- light flow (our app, which I raised the initial bug for)
- tasker
- llama
- pops
- notification toggle
- noLed
- iPhone Notifications
- missedIt
- addons detector
..plus I'm sure many more.
It's still broken in jelly bean (plus jelly bean has even more accessibility service issues that seem to require delarative xml to even trigger)
It also causes google now's voice activation to get disabled. I'm suprised it hasn't been picked up on at all by either samsung or google.
It's typical that the accessibility service demo is one that's adding tts to the clock so it doesn't show up there!

update: I worked around this bug by installing another home launcher(e.g. Go Launcher), so the bug seems to only affect "TouchWiz home". Although it is annoying to have to install a third party app (and endure the different design and push for paid content), it allows you to enjoy the accesibility features without hearing "the folder is open".
Also, maybe we should direct this bug to the TouchWiz developers.
Does anyone know how to install the Android stock home launcher instead of this TouchWiz thing? I'd even settle for something out of the Cyanogenmod project.

FOR THOSE WITH ROOTED GALAXY S3s (EITHER INTERNATIONAL OR USA)
I messed around in TouchWiz and deleted most of the strings that TalkBack uses to say stuff. So you shouldn't hear anything when opening folders, editing home screens, etc.

I keep TTS enabled and everything has been just fine (as long as you don't use the page indicators to scroll, TalkBack will still speak when you use those for some reason).

I've been trying to contact Samsung's customer service about this. They didn't listen to my complaints about this issue, and didn't seem to care, for what it's worth. Below is my petition and reply.
Summary :Accessibility Bug
Details :Samsung Galaxy Note 2(SGH-I317) and Samsung Galaxy S3
(SCH-I535), as well as many other Samsung Android devices have an
issue with 3rd party software that includes additional Accessibility
services. Apps like Tasker
(https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?idnet.dinglisch.android.taskerm )
, Lightflow (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?idcom.rageconsulting.android.lightflow )
, and LockerPro
(https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?idcom.productigeeky.lockerprolite )
require their own accessibility services to work. When any of these
(and more unlisted ones) are enabled, Samsung''s Voiceover becomes
active even though it''s disabled in the Accessibility options. Also,
the Samsung Keyboard''s "Continuous Input" no longer functions when
these options are enabled. Many people online are complaining about
this issue, shown here
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id23105 . I was
referred to this support page via my conversation on twitter @nerdrock

Thank you for reaching out. We understand that applications that
include additional Accessibility services are not working properly on
both of your phones, SGH-I317 and SCH-I535 and we're sorry to hear
that.
We do not support the use of 3rd party applications and services with
any of our devices. For this reason, we do not have information
compiled on possible resources.
The suggestion we can offer would be to search from Google Play Store
to locate an application to suit your needs.
If you are having issues with the use of a specific 3rd party
application or service, we recommend contacting the manufacturer of
that application or service for compatibility and support assistance.
We appreciate your continued interest in Samsung products.
Thank you,

For the record, the Sony SmartWatch notification Apps also trigger the "folder is open..." issue on the T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2. Disabling the Google and Samsung TTS apps works, but of course screws things up in other ways by reducing functionality (at best) elsewhere. Clearing the cache on the TTS apps also works for a while. I'm trying to identify the specific events/apps that re-start the problem. I don't like disabling the TTS Apps as a solution, so I am hoping to remove one or two SmartWatch functionality enhancements until it's properly fixed. Judging by this thread, I may be waiting a long time for the Goog and/or Sammy...
Have a good 2013! :)

This is not a lightflow issue as I am not running it. I have installed the Pebble watch app and that uses accessability settings which causes the voice to activate on opening folders and when scrolling through home screens using the numbers. It is also not just an ICS issue as my Galaxy S3 is now Jellybean.
Disabling all TTS applications is a workaround, but obviously that stops you using these features. I just want talkback to actually turn off when I turn it off. That's not really asking much.

Samsung Galaxy S3(SCH-I535) talkback text-to-speech disabled but still makes "random comments/won't SHUT UP"
Quick thanx to EVERYONE for your thoughts, insight, and documenting all your trial and error. I never would have found this resolve without you. Even though TalkBack Services were OFF we still had all your same problems, and could not get this thing to SHUT UP! Tried evrything as described above, nothing worked, until I went into the TEXT-TO-SPEECH OUTPUT menu and disabled DRIVING MODE. (Yes, DRIVING MODE, had nothing to do with actually driving or being in the car kit/charger/handsfree. The phone just kept yapping on and on about who was calling and what we were doing, even if it was sitting on the desk NOT MOVIONG.. REALLY ANNOYING!)
To disble DRIVING MODE open the following menus;
Settings > accessibility > Text-to-speech output > Driving mode: OFF/on
-There are NUMEROUS options under this menu that you will probably want disabled if you still wish to use this or some of these features.
I know this won't help everyone, but it fixed our S3's.

Aww, what the heck, I'll type it out for you:
KNOWN ISSUES
------------------------quote-----
Samsung Galaxy 3 starts talking to you when on your home screens saying folder is open or similar. This seems to be an ICS/SAMSUNG bug. It happens for some people and also with other apps that use the Accessibility service such as Tasker, Light Flow and others.
-----------end quote----------
So just turn off the Addons Detector and you should be fine.

SOLUTION FROM GOOGLE, MARCH, 2nd: UPDATE CHROME TO THE LAST VERSION. THE LIGHT FLOW LITE THEN SHOULD WORKS ON NEXUS 4 JUST FINE WITHOUT "CHROME TALKBACK SPEAKING" ISSUE. THAT'S IT.

I have the same problem that everybody else, but not because Light flow, I have installed Tasker, and he require that his Tasker Acessibility Service stay active to run a lot of my profiles, unfortunely, there's an app called TalkBack (early called Google TTS i guess), that simply WON'T SHUP UP!
Galaxy SII here. Waiting for a fix.

Hi.
This, at least for me, was completely a problem of wrong configuration of my phone (I have a SG2).
The annoying voice alerting about everything was driving me crazy.
This solution work for me, go to:
Settings -> Language & input -> Text-to-speech output
There you MUST UNCHECK "driving mode".
And the problem will disappear!!!
Why this annoying thing happens?
I don't know!
Bye and regards.

Sgs3, spoken minor ui issues. Once had lightflow installed, not sure if I had the issue at the time. Always had taker installed, disabling that service (maybe all services) fixes it for me.

Nothing seems to resolve the issue with Tasker (using Accessibility Service) on an SPH-L710.

for all of you still having your phone talking back.
i tried everything mentioned above but the phone kept talking .
the only way to make it stop is to disable all accessibility options, i had Go Launcher notification turned on and the phone kept talking back when in Touchviz.
hope this helps until they fix it.
Cheers

After reading through everyone's comments it seems strongly related to any other app sharing the "Services" area in the accessibility menu.
As it happens I've had the same issue since installing the Pebble app for my watch.
At the same time though I've been playing with other launchers and I can confirm that I do not get talked to when opening/closing folders in Apex Launcher.
So, is it a TouchWiz Home Launcher issue instead of an OS issue or hardware one?
And if so, who can we talk to that deals with said launcher?

It's got nothing to do with TouchWiz. I'm running 4.1.1 on my Galaxy S3 and just downloaded an app called Notification History (free version). It has a an accessibility service called Notification History that must be turned on for the app to work.
When the Notification History service is on, the device announces what home screen you are on every time you change home screens. No other accessibility announcements seem to happen (there are a lot more when the TalkBack service it turned on for example).
Turning off the Notification History service, fixes the issue but the app no longer works.

This issue also occurs on HTC devices, as my last EVO 3d had the issue with missed it! Just started happening on my new GS4 as well.
Many of the options suggested here are not possible on the GS4, as far as I can tell, because the settings menu does not have all of the accessory settings that have been suggested as possible fixes (there is no "driving mode" in accessory settings, unless it is buried in TouchWiz somewhere)

Same happening on Galxy S4.
If you activate any accessibility service like LightFlow, MissedIt! or similar services, the email app is talking when cliking on check boxes to select mails, the browser sometimes talks and the Samsung Galary does not allow any more to view pictures in full screen. Here always a photo strip is shown.
Talkback is off, Tried to freeze all TTS, but the galery bug still exists.
Please fix this bug in the accessibility service chain.

I only got this issue after I enabled the "Enhance web accessibility". I'd had it off before, and noticed no dampening in web usability. I got the issue in Google Now. I had this issue before, and couldn't find a solution, so I just reset my phone.
I would suggest that before anyone goes to such drastic and irritating measures, they just disable web scripts. On mobile, they're practically useless, and if you get a 3rd party browser, that browser runs its scripts settings independently.

Happening on my Galaxy S4 also.
What a pain! First, no missed call or voicemail waiting repeating notifications, then this bug which gets in the way of apps trying to provide them.

Sony Tablet S - Stock ROM- NOT rooted
I have have been using light flow without a problem. I didn't encounter the talkback problem until installing "Floating Notification" app (also in accessiblilty)
First I just want to say I wish half the people posting here would read all the posts before asking the same questions over and over
The only resolution I have found is by disabling Google TTS in the app manager
My tablet does not have a driving mode option, even by turning everything off in talkback and every app in accessibilty it stills talks (with TTS on)
I even disabled Talkback and deleted light flow and floating notification to no avail.
Next, the Talking that occurs is not the same as talk back. I does not speak everything out loud mostly web pages and search engines and sometimes seemed completely random. If I turn talk back on it speaks EVERYTHING aloud

Fixed in JB-MR1 such that spoken feedback is turned on in WebView only if a FEEDBACK_SPOKEN type accessibility service is running.

Description
I've been getting quite a few reports for people using my app (LightFlow) which requires the accessibility service that their phone keeps talking to them.
In the past this has usually been if the user has accidentally selected "TalkBack" in the accessibility menu.
On the galaxy nexus using Android 4.0.1 and 4.0.2 I've had some users that have the talkback feature switched off, but it still runs when they switch on the lightflow accessibility service.
I've attached a poor quality video from one of several users with this issue.
