Vector Asset Studio is really just a converter where SVGs (or material icons) get converted into VectorDrawable assets. As such it is really a tool for designers rather than developers.

Making a standalone version of the tool would mean designers could use it without having all the unnecessary overhead of managing an active Android Studio install with the project set up.
