I don't think the average developer understands the distinction between method references and method definitions in this context (inside a DEX file). I know I don't.

I think having defined members be directly under the class node while references are nested in a group makes more sense.

The issue was with the rendering engine native libraries, and was fixed by a new release of those libraries, namely layoutlib_jni.so
and libandroid_runtime.so
for linux.

Opensuse Leap 15.6 here: I tried and re-tried with more freetype fonts and tools installed, to no avail.
Very annoying, especially the fact that it does not occur on win11 which I have on my notebook.
