Do you have a repro project that you could share with us?
There should be no need to excluding any dependencies: we automatically remove them from the test APK if they are in the main APK.

Can you please provide more detailed steps to reproduce? How exactly are you running the tests? Are they under src/test or src/androidTest?

Android Studio says its running unit tests on VM but it actually runs on the device. Connected to the target VM, address: 'localhost:8635', transport: 'socket'.
