The new annotationProcessor scope is nice to call annotation processors, but there is no equivalent for tests.
It is not possible to call annotation processors in tests using this. Put differently, if the goal was to replace the apt plugin (

https://bitbucket.org/hvisser/android-apt), the testApt scope is missing to run annotation processors on test source code.

This create issues in various annotation processors and prevents the adoption of the new annotationProcessor scope.

Do you have a repro project that you could share with us?

There should be no need to excluding any dependencies: we automatically remove them from the test APK if they are in the main APK.
