Thank you for the bugreport and tried the new feature.
Unfortunately the version you'd tried (and all duplicated issue as of now) are very early version which expects you to manually prepare Linux image.
The issue is addressed in the next release (at least 20241026, but recommends 20241107), so I would appreciate if you try again later with the next release.

I'm terribly sorry for the inconvenience.
For bit more detail, the Terminal app was at the early development stage in beta1, and manual setup also expects userdebug build (which might not be available). Next beta2 release would be able to download image via Wi-Fi plus user build support.

- turn "Run linux terminal on android" off and then on again.
