Description
Feature Request/Query:
Currently, the Directions API provides route data including waypoints, steps, and polyline information. However, it seems there is no direct method to retrieve a list of cities, towns, or notable stops along the calculated route. Could you confirm if there is an existing feature or workaround to achieve this functionality using Google Maps services?
If not, I would like to request a feature enhancement that incorporates the ability to fetch cities or predefined points of interest (e.g., towns, major junctions) along a route as part of the Directions API response.
Possible Workaround Ideas:
Is there a way to integrate the Places API with the polyline data from the Directions API to identify nearby cities along the route?
Can you recommend any specific parameters or tools in the Google Maps API suite that could help achieve this?
This feature would be incredibly useful for applications that aim to optimize road trips, delivery routes, or travel planning, allowing users to have more contextual information about their journey.
Thank you for your support and for providing such a robust suite of tools. I look forward to your response and any guidance you can provide on this matter.
