Description of the issue

google home loses connection to matter server after the server is restarted. commissioned devices show permanently online.

• Test Environment (How many devices/border routers on the network etc..)

one google nest mini; fully patched matter.js to create the virtual devices on an rPi 4b. Pixel 8 as the mobile device with latest versions of gHome installed.

• When did it fail?

never worked.

• What was the error?
  • On phone
  • On device (partner device)

within google home. unclear where the issue lies.

• Was any operation quicker/slower than usual? n/a

Reproduction Information

• Clear consistently reproducible steps
  1. create virtual devices using chip tool or matter.js etc
  2. commission the bridge or device to google home
  3. use
  4. turn off the server for a while (in my tests I used a couple of hours)
  5. bring server online. gHome has not brought the devices back online and does not communicate with the matter server.

in the past I have also seen the devices disappear entirely from gHome and need re-pairing.

• Expectation:

devices are brought back on line as normal. this is the behaviour in other ecosystems

• Reproduction Rate ( how many successes / how many failures): Note: 1/1 is not considered a rate, please test a number of times before reporting always the case.

Analysis

(Please enter the steps that you've taken to analyze the issue) impossible to analyse without access to the google nest device logs. No comms in the matter logs.

• Platform Version/OS Version: Android 15 latest OTA for Pixel 8 in UK
