Description
Especially reducing saturation and or increasing lightness of the basemap are good ways to increase contrast when adding custom map elements.
The photo realistic map tiles are very colorful and aesthetically pleasing, but the are not well suited for data/information presentation. A dimmed down basemap would allow for mich higher contrasts compared to the default colors.
