Description
Dear Google and Samsung (Android Team),
As an Android user, I'm writing to suggest a new feature to help prevent accidental long-distance calls when traveling or storing international contacts. Many users, myself included, store international numbers in our contacts, and it's easy to accidentally dial them without realizing the long-distance charges that will be incurred.
My suggestion is to implement an optional setting for area code restrictions. This feature would allow users to specify area codes that should be treated as "restricted." When dialing a number from contacts, if the number matches a restricted area code, the Android phone could either:
* Provide a warning before placing the call, confirming the user's intent to make a long-distance call.
* Block the call entirely, requiring the user to manually dial the number with the appropriate country or international dialing code if they wish to proceed.
This feature would offer several benefits:
* Cost Savings for Users: Preventing accidental long-distance calls would save users significant money on their phone bills.
* Reduced Customer Service Calls: Mobile providers would likely see a decrease in customer service inquiries related to unexpected long-distance charges, reducing their operational costs.
* Improved User Experience: This feature would give users greater control over their phone usage and prevent frustrating and costly mistakes.
I believe this feature would be a valuable addition to the Android operating system and would be appreciated by many users.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Pooya Mohammadhossein
