The documentation says:

There are two implementations of DataStore: Preferences and Proto. Choose one or the other. You can also add Android-free dependencies to either implementation.

This doesn't seem to be true, since androidx.datastore:datastore-preferences pulls in androidx.datastore:datastore transitively.

I guess either android.datastore:datastore-preferences is unnecessarily pulling in the protos version, or the documentation is incorrect if this is intentional.
