Description
The compression is controlled by the property [ 'write.metadata.compression-codec' = 'gzip' ] as per the Iceberg documentation [1].
- 'write.metadata.compression-codec' = 'gzip'
As of now, BigQuery does not support handling compressed metadata files, which presents a challenge when working with Iceberg tables that store metadata in this compressed format.
This feature request seeks to enable BigQuery to handle compressed .gz metadata files for Iceberg tables, making it easier for users to work with these tables without needing to manually decompress the files before use.
