What type of Android issue is this?

What steps would let us observe this issue?

1. I was using the fone normally. Using social media. No games etc.
2. After around 30 mins of use it got heated up to a level that I could not hold it. Also it started getting sluggish.
3. I remove back cover and allowed it cool down.
